Our Tea Story

Dingshu White Tea: A Decade of Craftsmanship, Rooted in Fuding’s Alpine Terroir

In the mist-shrouded high mountains of Fuding, Fujian—hailed as the “Hometown of Chinese White Tea”—Dingshu White Tea has been quietly nurturing the essence of nature for over a decade. Since our establishment in 2013, we have remained committed to one core mission: bringing authentic, high-quality Fuding white tea from the heart of China’s premium tea-producing region to tea lovers around the world. More than just a tea supplier, we are inheritors of Fuding’s centuries-old tea heritage and storytellers of its unique terroir.

Our Roots: Guanyang Town – The Pinnacle of Fuding’s Alpine Tea Terroir

Dingshu White Tea is deeply rooted in Guanyang Town, Fuding City—a hidden gem in the northwest of Fuding, nestled at the junction of the Taimu Mountain and Jiufeng Mountain ranges. With an average altitude of 800 meters (the highest among Fuding’s core tea-producing areas), Guanyang boasts a unique “alpine + ocean” composite ecosystem that is a gift to tea cultivation. Here, the air is pure, free from industrial pollution, and the mountains are covered with dense forests (with a forest coverage rate exceeding 75%), creating a natural “tea-forest-grass” ecological cycle that nurtures healthy, vigorous tea trees.

The climate of Guanyang is tailor-made for white tea: low annual average temperature (14.8℃), long frost period (60-80 days), abundant rainfall (2000mm annually), and high ultraviolet radiation due to the high altitude. These conditions slow the growth of tea buds, allowing them to accumulate richer nutrients—including higher levels of tea polyphenols and amino acids—resulting in white tea with a mellow, sweet taste and distinct “alpine charm” that sets it apart from teas grown in lower-altitude areas. It is this unique terroir that gives Dingshu’s white tea its unparalleled quality and character.

Our Philosophy: Respect Nature, Uphold Craftsmanship

At Dingshu, we believe that great tea comes from nature and is refined by hand. For over 10 years, we have adhered to the traditional white tea production process—natural withering and gentle drying—without adding any artificial additives, preserving the purest flavor and nutritional value of the tea leaves. This commitment to “simplicity and authenticity” is deeply embedded in every step of our work, from tea picking to final packaging.

We source our tea leaves exclusively from ancient tea gardens and wild old bushes in Guanyang’s remote mountainous areas. Our wild old bush teas, in particular, grow naturally without human intervention, absorbing the essence of the mountains and forests, and developing a bold, layered flavor with woody and floral undertones. Each tea bud and leaf is handpicked by experienced local tea farmers, who know exactly when to harvest to ensure the perfect balance of tenderness and flavor—only plump, healthy buds and leaves make it into our collection.

Our Collection: A Tribute to Fuding’s White Tea Diversity

Dingshu’s tea collection is a celebration of Fuding white tea’s rich diversity, crafted to cater to every palate and preference. From the delicate luxury of Silver Needle to the robust depth of wild old bush varieties, each product tells a story of terroir and craftsmanship:

  • Silver Needle: The crown jewel of our collection, made from single, silvery buds handpicked before Qingming Festival, offering a delicate, sweet flavor with a fresh downy aroma.
  • White Peony: A harmonious blend of buds and leaves, with a bright floral aroma and smooth, fruity sweetness—perfect for both new and seasoned tea lovers.
  • Shou Mei: A hearty, approachable daily drinker, with a mellow, earthy taste that becomes richer and more complex with age.
  • Wild Old Bush Series: Including Wild Old Bush White Peony, Wild Old Bush Large Leaf, and their compressed cake versions, these teas offer a bold, wild character that captures the resilience and essence of Guanyang’s ancient tea bushes.

Each tea in our collection is a testament to our dedication to quality. We carefully sort, process, and package every batch to ensure that when it reaches your cup, it retains the authentic flavor and aroma of Guanyang’s high mountains.
